Creative Studio keeps a brand kit on each design (data.designSystem), not once for the whole business. The presets in the Brand kit panel are Appmint's built-in style sets, and the business's own kit is not among them. So "save my brand kit" means one design that holds the kit. Every new graphic starts as a copy of that design.
Ask first
- The colours, as hex values. Which is the main one (
primary), the second (secondary) and the accent (tertiary), plus a background or neutral colour if they have one. If they only have a logo, suggest colours taken from it and wait for a yes. - The fonts: one for headlines and one for body text. Use Google Fonts names. The canvas loads fonts from Google Fonts, so any other font shows as a fallback.
- The logo: a file in Files, or one they upload now. A PNG with a transparent background works best.
- The size they post most (an Instagram post, a story…). Copies keep the brand design's size.
Steps
1. Files: the logo
If the logo isn't in Files yet, upload it: File Manager (/document), or POST /repository/file/upload (multipart file, plus a location folder such as brand). If it is only on a website, POST /repository/file/upload-url { url, location, name } copies it in.
Hands on: the logo's path and url. Check: the logo is in Files and opens.
2. Creative Studio: the brand design
call_appengine POST /creative-studio/designs/create { "title": "Brand kit — <business>", "size": { "width", "height", "name", "platform" } }. Use the size from Ask first. The sizes are listed in Social post graphic.
Then set the kit. There are two ways:
- In the editor.
navigate{ route: "/creative-studio", params: { uid: "<sk>" } }, thencs_apply_design_system{ name, colors: { primary: "#…", secondary: "#…", tertiary: "#…", neutral: "#…", background: "#…" }, headlineFont, bodyFont }. The headline font becomes the kit's display and headline styles. The body font becomes its title, body, label and caption styles. - Without the editor (for example, an AI Employee):
POST /creative-studio/designs/<sk>/savewith the whole kit:
{ "designSystem": {
"name": "<business> brand",
"mode": "light",
"colors": {
"primary": { "hex": "#1e3a8a", "label": "Primary" },
"secondary": { "hex": "#f59e0b", "label": "Secondary" }
},
"typography": {
"display": { "family": "Poppins", "size": 48, "weight": 700, "lineHeight": 56, "letterSpacing": 0 },
"headline": { "family": "Poppins", "size": 32, "weight": 600, "lineHeight": 40, "letterSpacing": 0 },
"title": { "family": "Inter", "size": 20, "weight": 500, "lineHeight": 28, "letterSpacing": 0 },
"body": { "family": "Inter", "size": 16, "weight": 400, "lineHeight": 24, "letterSpacing": 0 },
"label": { "family": "Inter", "size": 12, "weight": 500, "lineHeight": 16, "letterSpacing": 0 },
"caption": { "family": "Inter", "size": 11, "weight": 400, "lineHeight": 16, "letterSpacing": 0 }
} } }The save replaces the whole kit, so send every colour and style.
Hands on: the brand design's sk.
Check: open the design (/creative-studio?uid=<sk>). The Brand kit panel (the palette button, top right) shows the colours and fonts.
3. Creative Studio: the logo in place
With the editor open, put the logo where it goes on their posts: cs_add_to_canvas { objects: [{ type: "image", url: "<logo url>", left, top, width, height, fit: "contain", name: "logo" }] }. Coordinates count from the frame's top-left corner. Then cs_save.
Put only what belongs on every graphic in this design. Every copy starts with all of it.
Check: the library card (/creative-studio) shows the logo on the brand design.
4. Using the kit
- A new graphic: in the library, open the brand design's ⋯ menu and choose Duplicate, then rename the copy. The AI does the same with
POST /creative-studio/designs/<sk>/duplicateandPOST /creative-studio/designs/<copy sk>/rename{ title }. Then continue with Social post graphic. - An existing design: open it and call
cs_apply_design_systemwith the same colours and fonts. This only changes the kit. Withrestyle: true, it also changes what is already on the canvas. Every text gets the headline font (40 px and up) or the body font, and every shape that isn't a picture gets the primary colour. Ask before restyling, and show the result. The person can undo it with ⌘Z. - A campaign: a new design made from a campaign starts with the default kit, because the campaign doesn't pass one. Copy the brand design first, then pick the copy (see Ad creatives for a campaign).
Never open the brand design itself to design for a campaign. Use These Designs links that design to the campaign and saves the campaign's edits into it. Work on a copy.
When it's done
Tell the person:
- the brand design's name, its colours and fonts;
- where the logo sits;
- that new graphics start from Duplicate on the brand design.
Open the brand design in the editor.
What it can't do yet
- No business-wide kit. The kit lives on each design. Changing the brand design later doesn't change the copies already made.
- The Brand kit presets are built-in only. The panel's code comment says it also lists the business's own style sets, but only Appmint's built-in ones load.
- Creative Studio only. The kit is not used by website pages or emails.
Don'ts
- Don't guess brand colours from a logo without a yes.
- Don't send only part of the kit through
designs/<sk>/save. That replaces the whole kit. - Don't restyle an existing design without asking. It recolours every shape.
- Don't design campaign or post graphics on the brand design itself. Copy it first.
