How AI skills work

A skill is the training for one multi-app job — the steps in order, what each step produces, what the next step uses, and where to stop for a person.

Most jobs in Appmint live in one app: create a lead, book a reservation, send an email. Some jobs need several apps used in the right order, with the result of one step handed to the next. A skill is the training for one of those jobs.

The AI Agent and AI Employees read these pages. So can a person — every skill is also a how-to.

What a skill page holds

PartWhat it is
when (frontmatter)The requests this skill answers, in an owner's words. The AI matches a request against these.
apps (frontmatter)The apps the job touches, in order.
produces (frontmatter)What exists when the job is done.
Ask firstWhat the AI must know before starting. If the person didn't say, ask — don't invent it.
StepsOne app per step. Each says what to create, the fields that matter, and what it hands on to the next step.
CheckHow to confirm the step worked before moving on — open the record on its own screen, try it once.
StopWhere a person must say yes: anything that sends to real people, publishes, or costs money.

Rules for every skill

  1. Use the real action for each record type — the app's own create/update — never a raw database write. Each app's create does work a raw write skips (numbers, pipelines, notices).
  2. Show each result on its own screen (find the app, open the record by its link) so the person can follow along. Say only what the screen confirms.
  3. Hand results forward by id, not by name — the collection's name goes into the form, the form goes onto the page, the page's id goes into the invitation.
  4. Stop before sending, publishing or paying. Show what will go out and to whom, then wait for yes.
  5. When a step fails, say which step, what failed and what is already done. Don't start over and don't leave duplicates.

Skills

Finding and keeping customers

  • Lead acquisition from scratch — a pipeline with stages, scoring and who gets new leads, and a website form that feeds it.
  • Prospecting rules from a description — "I sell X to Y" becomes AI Classifier rules and the first Lead Finder search; nothing run yet.
  • Find leads with the Lead Finder — bring in (search, map, a file, the CRM), look up what's missing with any tool, find people by title, rank when asked, move or draft a broadcast; saved as a list that runs again.
  • New-lead follow-up — an automation that emails a new lead and makes a task when they don't reply; saved as a draft.
  • Inbound lead channels — Facebook lead ads and a website form into a pipeline, the same person kept as one contact.
  • Intro email sequence to qualified leads — the qualified leads in a group, three intro emails as draft broadcasts; a person sends.
  • Newsletter setup — a sending account, a subscriber group, a signup form and a first draft.
  • Build a CRM Blueprint — each block built with its own app, each wire made real, every record linked back; switched off until a yes.

Writing a new skill

Copy an existing skill page. Keep one app per step, name what each step hands on, and put a Stop wherever something leaves the building. When the AI finishes a new multi-app job well, it can draft the page for you from what it did.
