Appmint Mobile Workstation devices and business location — supporting guide

Find and configure the hardware used by this phone.

What you will learn

  • Assign the workstation’s business location
  • Maintain business details with address suggestions, country and state selection
  • Open Card terminal (M2) under that location
  • Connect printer, barcode scanner and staff-access reader
  • Read live connection versus saved association
  • Recover saved connections when returning to the app
  • Choose local hardware or a shared Device Hub

Before you begin

Sign in to the intended organization and enable the required apps under Features (apps & menus). Use a staff role with access to the workflow and select the relevant business location or event. Configure the payment provider and compatible hardware used in the lesson before beginning collection or printing.

Open Devices from Home to configure the workstation's hardware and see its connection state. Printer, barcode scanner and business-location shortcuts are also available under More.

Choose a connection

Local pairing associates the hardware with this device. Shared hub configuration associates hardware with the venue. Select the approach that matches how staff will use it.

Receipt and ticket printer

  1. Open Devices → Receipt printer or More → Printer.
  2. Turn on the printer and choose its supported connection mode.
  3. Discover the printer and select the correct device. For a Bluetooth Classic printer that requests an operating-system PIN, complete that pairing using the manufacturer's PIN.
  4. Wait for the app's connected state and save the default printer.
  5. Choose 58 mm or 80 mm to match the installed paper.
  6. Use Test print and inspect the output.

Bluetooth BLE and Bluetooth Classic are different transports. Use the mode supported by both the printer and the phone; a device being visible or saved is distinct from an active connection.

Printing uses the saved default and reconnects when needed. Keep the printer awake, supplied with paper and within range. Use Forget when replacing it. Printing covers checks, receipts and event tickets.

External barcode scanner

Open Devices → Barcode scanner. Choose the scanner's mode before discovery.

ModeSetup
BLE data / serialPut the scanner in BLE data mode using its manufacturer's configuration barcode. Discover and connect it inside Appmint Mobile.
HID / keyboardPair through the phone's Bluetooth or supported USB keyboard connection. Enable keyboard scanner capture in Appmint Mobile.
CameraEnable Camera scanner and allow camera access. Open the scan control for the workflow.

HID keyboards are not listed as BLE data peripherals merely because the phone has paired them. A scanner's SPP mode is also different from its BLE mode. For in-app discovery, use a compatible BLE data service.

Use the scanner's last-scan display to confirm the input reaches the app. The BLE connection status reports the live connection. A keyboard scan timestamp reports input received; it is not a persistent Bluetooth connection indicator.

The app remembers the BLE scanner and attempts to reconnect after launch or return to the foreground. Wake a sleeping scanner and keep it in range. Do not forget and re-pair it as part of every shift.

Use the scanner in the right screen

  • In POS, product scans add items; repeated scans increase quantity.
  • In Event scanner, codes follow the selected Entry, Exit or Benefits mode.
  • In Reservations, the reservation scanning action looks up the booking.

A code's meaning depends on the active workflow. Present one intended code at a time, especially when several receipts or tickets are nearby.

Card terminal and Tap to Pay

Open Business location → Card terminal (M2). Use the existing business location and its address, then discover and connect the reader by serial number. Allow firmware updates to finish while the reader remains powered and nearby.

Checkout shows the payment label configured under POS settings. A label such as Card represents a configured payment method; the live connection status indicates whether its reader is ready. Tap to Pay uses the phone on supported devices and eligible payment accounts.

See Payments for collection and Business location for address setup.

NFC staff access

Use Devices → NFC card reader for a compatible external reader, or the phone's built-in NFC where available. Administrators issue cards under More → Access cards (admin) and associate them with employees. Lost and revoked cards are controlled through the same administration.

The NFC staff-access reader identifies an employee for quick sign-in. It is separate from a payment terminal used to collect money. Follow the organization's passcode and card policy under Staff and access.

Cash drawer

Connect a compatible drawer to the printer's drawer port. Use Kick drawer to check the configured output. Cash collection can trigger the drawer through that printer; the cable, printer command support and drawer must match.

Daily readiness

Confirm the assigned location, device power, live connection, paper width and last scan before beginning work. Returning to the app triggers recovery of saved connections. Signing out is a different operation: account-sensitive settings and hardware associations may need setup again, while the Home layout remains available for the workstation.

Practical walkthrough

Work through the following sequence with a sample business scenario. Keep the same customer, order, ticket or work record throughout the lesson.

  1. Assign the workstation’s business location.
  2. Maintain business details with address suggestions, country and state selection.
  3. Open Card terminal (M2) under that location.
  4. Connect printer, barcode scanner and staff-access reader.
  5. Read live connection versus saved association.
  6. Recover saved connections when returning to the app.
  7. Choose local hardware or a shared Device Hub.

Appmint Mobile Receipts, prep tickets and event printing — supporting guide

Print the correct receipt on a local or shared printer.

What you will learn

  • Choose a local printer or shared hub destination
  • Connect the printer using a compatible transport
  • Complete a manufacturer PIN prompt where required
  • Set 58 mm or 80 mm paper and print a sample
  • Print checks, payment receipts and production tickets
  • Print event QR tickets and multi-ticket receipts
  • Keep the completion window open until Close
  • Reprint an existing document without another payment

Before you begin

Sign in to the intended organization and enable the required apps under Features (apps & menus). Use a staff role with access to the workflow and select the relevant business location or event. Configure the payment provider and compatible hardware used in the lesson before beginning collection or printing.

Use a paired local printer for a dedicated workstation, or a shared printer reached through the organization's Device Hub. Configure local hardware under Devices → Receipt printer or More → Printer.

Set up a printer

Choose a compatible transport, connect the printer, save it as the default and select its paper width: 58 mm or 80 mm. Use Test print to check the text, margins and paper feed. Use Kick drawer when a compatible cash drawer is attached.

For Bluetooth Classic printers, complete any operating-system PIN prompt using the manufacturer's instructions. For BLE printers, use the in-app discovery and connection path. Connection support depends on the phone, printer and transport.

Choose the document

DocumentWhere to printPurpose
CheckSaved tab's Print actionOrder summary before payment
ReceiptCheckout or the saved payment/orderRecord of the collected payment
Prep ticketThe configured prep dispatch workflowItems, options, stations and instructions for production
Event ticketAccreditation Ticket / print or ticket-sale completionAdmission QR, ticket reference and holder/event details
Ticket sale receiptPrint tickets & receiptTicket purchase and payment record

Receipt and prep templates are maintained centrally. Keep the location, printer route and paper size aligned with the workstation.

Choose Print on the completed checkout. Wait for the print result, then choose Close when finished. The window remains available for another copy or another delivery option. Email and SMS receipts use the business's configured messaging channels.

When reprinting, open the existing order rather than creating another sale. The payment remains the same regardless of how many receipt copies are produced.

Event admission QR codes

Use the event ticket's print action rather than printing only its reference text. Each ticket in a multi-ticket purchase has its own admission credential. Give the holder the current ticket produced by the issue or fulfilment flow.

Repeated copies of one code represent one ticket. Admission, re-entry and benefit limits still apply to that same ticket.

Shared printers and preparation

A Device Hub provides a shared destination for multiple workstations. Configure the hub, printer role and location in the business's device administration. Prep stations can represent kitchen, bar, printing, assembly or other production work.

Keep document routing separate from payment collection: sending an item to production, printing an order check and printing a payment receipt serve different purposes.

Daily care

Keep the printer awake, within reach of its connection and loaded with the correct paper. The saved local default is reused for printing and reconnection. Check the printer's connected state before replacing or forgetting it.

See Devices, POS and Device Hub.
