Networking

Connecting with people, your QR profile card, handling requests, messaging and how scoping works.

Set your profile up first

Me → Edit profile. Your name, photo, headline, company and bio are what someone sees on your card in the directory and on your profile. A blank profile makes a connection request easy to ignore.

Connecting with someone

By browsing — open People inside an event, find them, and tap Connect on the card or the profile.

Face to face — open Me → QR and show your QR profile card. It encodes your identity as community:connect:<your email>, so a staff device running Appmint Mobile, or any reader that understands that format, can record the connection for you.

The app shows your code; it does not scan other people's

There is no scanner in EventOxygen today. To connect with someone in front of you, one of you searches for the other in People, or a staff device scans your card. Do not expect the camera to open from the tab bar.

A request is not a connection. It sits pending until they respond, and you see Pending on their card meanwhile.

Handling requests

Connections in the drawer has the three lists that matter, plus counts at the top:

ListWhat it is
ConnectedAccepted, mutual
ReceivedRequests waiting on you — accept or decline each
SentRequests waiting on them

If someone says they added you and you cannot see them, check Received — the request is probably sitting there. The stats chips (sent, connected, received) update as you act.

Booking a meeting

From a profile, Meet creates a meeting request with a time and place. It shows under Meetings in the drawer for both of you, and it only becomes confirmed when everyone has accepted. See People for the full state model.

A meeting is not a session

Sessions are the event's programme, set by organizers and shown on the Schedule. Meetings are between attendees and live under Meetings. Only sessions have capacity limits.

Messaging

Chat is real time — messages arrive as they are sent, with a typing indicator and an online dot for the other person. Photos can be sent from the attachment button.

If the live connection drops (backgrounding the app, moving between venue Wi‑Fi and cellular, a captive portal), sending still works: the app falls back to a plain request and the message is stored server-side. Reopen the app to get the live feed back. Nothing is lost. See Inbox.

The feed

Inside an event there is a feed on the Explore tab — posts, comments, reactions and stories, scoped to that event's community page. Post from the + button in the tab bar. Save anything you want to find later; saved items are under Bookmarks in the drawer. See Feed.

Scoping catches people out

Networking is per event. The People directory, feed and stories inside an event show that event only.

Your connections, meetings, bookmarks and messages are global — someone you met last year is still a connection this year, and your chat with them is the same thread. If the People list looks wrong, check which event you are in via the drawer.

Troubleshooting

My QR code will not scan. Turn brightness up and remove any dimming filter.

Someone scanned me but nothing happened. A scan sends a request; it does not connect you immediately. Check Sent.

I cannot find someone I know is attending. They may not be listed as a participant of this event, or they are registered under a different email. Ask them to search for you instead.

A meeting never confirmed. It confirms only when every participant accepts. Check Meetings → All for who is still pending.
