Me and settings

Signing in and out, the More tab, quick-login passcodes, access cards, the home layout — and what each setting actually does today.

The More tab is the app's settings and utilities hub. There is no side drawer; everything that is not a home tile lives here.

Signing in

The app opens on the sign-in screen whenever you are not signed in. Three routes in, and only three:

RouteWhen to use it
Email + passwordThe normal way in on your own device
Magic codeYou do not have the password to hand — a six-digit code is emailed to you
POS Quick Sign-InA shared counter device: employee ID + passcode, or a tap of your access card

There is no site name to type. Sign-in starts with your email, and the server answers which organizations that email belongs to.

With a password:

  1. Type your Email Address and tap Continue with Password.
  2. One organization — you go straight to the password step and the organization is never mentioned. Several — an Organization picker appears above the password, the one you used most recently already selected. Change it if you meant the other.
  3. Type your password and tap Sign In.
  4. If a verification code is required, a dialog appears: type the six digits and tap Verify. Send it again resends it, and on an email or SMS challenge you can switch to the other method.

With a magic code: type your email, tap Send Magic Code, then enter the six digits from the email and tap Verify. If your email belongs to several organizations you are asked which one first.

If the email is not known, the screen stays where it is and says No account found for rather than sending you on to a password step that could never work.

Saved accounts. Once you have signed in, the screen keeps a one-tap row per organization under Tap to sign in. Tapping it signs you straight back in. If the stored session has lapsed the row says Session expired — tap to sign in and you enter your password once. The × on a row is Forget this account — it removes that row and nothing else.

Verification codes work here now

Two-factor and new-device verification used to strand this app in a sign-in loop. They no longer do: the app recognises the challenge, asks for the code, and lets you resend it or switch between email and SMS. An authenticator code is typed from your app — there is nothing to resend.

Forgot Password does not work in this build

Tapping Forgot Password? shows Password reset instructions sent to your email! but no email is sent — nothing reaches the server. Reset your password from the web, or use Send Magic Code to get in without it.

The Sign Up tab is also inert: there is no self-registration in the app. An administrator creates your account.

Switching organization

There is no organization switcher inside the app. To move between organizations:

  • Sign out, then tap the saved-account row for the other organization; or
  • Sign out and enter your email again — if it belongs to more than one organization, the Organization picker on the password step is where you choose.

Saved accounts are keyed by organization, so you get one row per organization — signing into a second one under the same email adds a row rather than replacing the first.

Switching also re-registers the phone, so calls follow you to the organization you are actually in.

Signing out

Logout, at the bottom of More, signs out immediately — there is no confirmation, so take care where you tap.

What it keeps is short: the organization this device last signed into (quick sign-in uses it) and your saved-account rows, so signing back in is one tap.

What it clears is long — your tokens, the cached user, the current organization, the selected location, this device's Home apps & groups layout, and every hardware pairing on the device: the receipt printer, the card reader and its Terminal location, the barcode scanner, the NFC reader, and the phone's offline setting.

Do not sign out of a configured device

On a till or a door device, signing out means pairing the printer and reader again before you can trade. Use quick sign-in for staff changes instead — it swaps the person without touching the device.

Signing out also unregisters this device for voice and SMS, so it stops ringing until you sign back in.

If your session lapses on its own you are dropped back to sign-in with Session expired. Please sign in again.

Quick-login passcode

My quick-login passcode sets the six-digit code you type on a shared device, and links it to your BusinessMade employee ID. Whether a code is required at all, or whether a card tap alone signs you in, is decided by the organization; see shared devices.

To set or change it:

  1. More → My quick-login passcode.
  2. Type your Employee ID. The screen does not fill this in for you — get it from your manager if you do not know it.
  3. Type the New 6-digit passcode and the same again to confirm.
  4. Tap Save Passcode. You will see Passcode saved and the code fields clear.

Setting a new passcode replaces the old one; you are never asked for the current one.

To remove it: Remove my passcode → Remove. The dialog says it plainly: Quick login by passcode/card will be disabled. Password login is unaffected. You can always still sign in with your email and password.

Exactly six digits, nothing else. The screen refuses with Passcode must be 6 digits, Passcodes do not match, or Enter your employee ID.

Access cards

Access cards is for administrators: issue an NFC card to an employee, replace one, or mark one lost or revoked. A card is bound to its chip's factory serial, so a copied card does not work.

Non-admins can open the screen, but the list fails and the body shows the server's refusal — usually Forbidden — insufficient permissions. That is the expected behaviour, not a fault.

To issue a card:

  1. More → Access cards (admin) → Issue card.
  2. Pick the employee from the list — search by name. The row shows their employee ID.
  3. When Tap the new card to read it… appears, hold the card to the phone (or present it to a paired Bluetooth NFC reader). You have about 25 seconds.
  4. The Register card dialog shows the card's UID and the employee. Add a Label if it helps — Lanyard #3, Front desk spare.
  5. Tap Register. You will see Card registered.

On a phone with built-in NFC the employee ID is also written onto the chip. A card read through a Bluetooth reader instead is registered server-side only, which works the same at sign-in.

To revoke, mark lost, or reactivate: the ⋮ on the card's row gives Set active, Revoke and Mark lost. Revoked and lost cards stop working immediately.

Revoke has no confirmation

Tapping Revoke or Mark lost takes effect on the first tap, with no "are you sure". If you kill the wrong card, Set active on the same row brings it back.

Replacing a card is two steps, not one: Mark lost on the old card, then Issue card to the same employee with the new chip.

Menu (day-parts & 86-list) is the fastest way to take an item off sale or move it between day-parts for the current location. Toggle an item off and you can record a reason — Out of prep, supplier delay… — then it reads … is 86'd; toggle it back and it reads … is back on. Changes apply to every device at once. Details under menu and stock.

Home apps and groups

Hide tiles or whole groups you do not use on this device. A counter tablet can show only BusinessMade; a rep's phone only CRM.

Turn a group off and its section disappears from home entirely — and its per-app switches collapse out of view, so turn the group back on if you need to change one item inside it. Reset, top right, brings everything back with no confirmation.

This layout is per device, and logout wipes it

The customization is stored on the device, not on your account — everyone who signs in on that device sees the same layout. And signing out clears it: the next sign-in shows every tile again. On a device you have set up deliberately, avoid signing out, or be ready to set it up again.

Your profile

The top of More shows your avatar, name and email. Edit Profile there does nothing in this build — change your name, email or photo from the web.

Deleting your account

Account deletion exists on the server but has no reachable screen in this build of the app. Ask an administrator, or delete your account from the web. The organization's primary contact cannot be deleted at all — the organization would be left without an owner; transfer ownership first.

What is not here

These entries appear in More but do nothing at all when tapped — no screen, no message: Notifications, Edit Profile, Preferences, Language (the English beside it is fixed text, not a setting), Dark Mode (the switch will not even move), Help Center, About.

Also missing today:

  • Biometric unlock is not part of the app. Sign-in is password, magic code, or passcode and card.
  • Two-factor codes are handled: the app asks for the code, resends it, and can switch between email and SMS. Authenticator apps work too.
  • Offline caching — the app reads live. Without a connection, lists are empty rather than stale.
  • Push notifications for leads, orders or messages are not delivered to the device. The one push path is the softphone's incoming-call wake-up.
