Written guide

Overview

This is Appmint Chat Designer: website widget and embeds. We will configure the feature, use it and check the actual result. The essential setup comes first; the later chapters cover alternatives and recovery. Use the chapter list to return directly to a demonstration.

01. Create a site widget with the setup wizard

Active-site feature controls with Live Chat Set up

Retained Appmint capture: the active site's Features area includes Live Chat → Set up, with its switch off. The adjacent Content Player being enabled does not enable chat. Choose the Live Chat Set up action to begin the widget wizard; no completed wizard is shown here.

Why this matters

For an Appmint site, Live Chat setup can create or reuse the widget, optional AI Assistant and app user in one flow. Chat Designer then handles detailed configuration. This avoids sending a new user through three unrelated forms before the widget can appear.

Follow these steps

Open the active site’s Features area and the Live Chat setup action. In Set up Live Chat, follow Widget, AI replies, App user and Finish. Choose the existing configuration where appropriate or enter the proposed new name. Review the final links and choose the finish action. Read Live chat is on and retain the generated embed information.

Limitations and checks

Source review only for this newer wizard. Keep application secrets private. The exact host-page Features entry must be matched to the current live site screen.

02. Create or select a design

Follow the designer screen

Open CRM → Chat Designer in Studio Manager. The selector beside the title identifies the widget being edited; Designer edits it and Embed Code produces the integration for that selected widget. The left column contains settings. The two panels on the right illustrate the welcome and conversation layouts. Their example messages are preview content, not a customer conversation or proof that an AI assistant answered.

  1. Open the widget selector and choose New Widget, or select the existing widget you intend to change. Use Refresh widgets if a recently saved widget is missing; a loading failure is not an empty library.
  2. Enter a name that identifies its destination, for example Main website enquiries, and a description explaining where you will use it.
  3. Choose the template and default path. Start with Welcome when visitors should see the opening choices; use the relevant chat destination only after its person/assistant is configured.
  4. Choose Save at the upper right. Select another saved widget and then return to this one to check the name and settings were retained. Record its Chat ID before copying an embed.

Chat Designer identity fields with welcome and conversation previews

Retained Appmint capture: Inbox demo chat is selected. Sample chat text on the right is design preview content.

Why this matters

A chat configuration is a saved widget design with its routing settings. Reusing a design affects the sites or embeds that point to that configuration, so check the selected record first.

Follow these steps

Open Chat Designer. Use the configuration selector to select an existing design or create a new one. Enter Name and Description. Choose Template from default, modern, minimal or qa. Set Default path to Welcome, Form, Chat, Chat with AI or Chat with Agent as appropriate. Save, then reselect the record and verify its Chat ID.

Limitations and checks

Labels for schema-generated fields may be formatted by DataForm.

03. Set identity, entry and registration

Why this matters

The opening view decides what a visitor sees before messaging. Registration Required changes the information requested from them. Agent profiles describe the people presented, not proof that those agents are connected.

Follow these steps

Choose Logo and edit Header content. Set Chat bubble position, Chat openers, Allow attachments and Allow emojis. Enable Registration required if needed and choose Name, Email, Phone or Comments fields. Add Agents with User, Avatar, Screen name and Tag line, and enable Show agents where intended. Save and inspect a fresh visitor’s opening view.

Limitations and checks

Do not enter a secret or staff credential in visitor fields. Verify required-field behavior with an incomplete submission before presenting it as enforced.

04. Configure availability, AI and missed chat

Chat Designer availability, AI selection and missed-chat settings

Retained Appmint capture: Status is Online, while AI and Automation are unselected. Online does not establish a working AI reply.

Configure one response path at a time

Scroll below the identity fields to Availability, AI, Automation and Agents. Expand Availability to set when this widget offers chat. Select the already configured assistant in AI for automated replies; an empty selector is not an enabled assistant. For a human response, add the intended agent under Agents and ensure that person is available in the chat application. Show Agents controls presentation and does not sign someone in.

Expand Offline to write a useful unavailable message and select the form behavior. Expand Missed Chat Notifications only when you have a destination mailbox and configured mail delivery. Save, then test the website as a visitor: send a unique enquiry, find that same enquiry in the staff chat, and inspect the returned response. If only the designer preview changes, the visitor path has not yet been verified.

Why this matters

Availability, routing and connection are separate. An Online design does not connect a staff agent. AI must point to a saved assistant; missed-chat email needs a working sender and destination.

Follow these steps

Set Status and Availability, including Chat available 24/7 or the intended Work days. Configure Offline message and Show form. Select the saved AI assistant and any intended automation. Under Missed Chat Notifications, set Enabled, Notify email and Timeout minutes. Save. Test an independent visitor session with the intended agent or assistant state.

Limitations and checks

The schema exposes automation selection, but execution is unverified here. Missed-chat transcript delivery and schedule boundary behavior remain live tests, not assumed outcomes.

05. Embed in HTML or React

Why this matters

The embedded widget signs in with an app user. Its App ID is the credential username, not an API key. The generated integration is the source of the exact organization and configuration values.

Follow these steps

Open Embed Code. Select App Credential; if none exists, use App Credentials section to create the intended app user and return. Select HTML / JavaScript and copy the generated code into the intended page. For React, select React Component and use the generated integration in the intended app. Open the result in a fresh browser session and start a message.

Limitations and checks

Do not substitute a secret into App ID. Standalone HTML and React mount/unmount behavior must be rehearsed independently; saving a Chat design is not proof the embed loads.

06. Verify visitor behavior and broadcasts

Why this matters

Preview shows the design. An independent visitor proves whether registration, routing, replies and broadcast presentation work on the actual site.

Follow these steps

Open the target website in a separate session. Test opening, registration, sending a message and receiving the corresponding agent or AI reply. Test the supported broadcast display controls with a real moving broadcast and stop it from the sender. Repeat at a narrow viewport.

Limitations and checks

The inspected configuration schema and preview do not establish every language/theme/broadcast option promised by the catalogue. Use the options available in your configuration; some installations may not expose every language, theme or broadcast setting.

07. Clone, reuse and recover

Why this matters

Clone prepares a separate design but still needs saving. Delete removes the selected configuration; it does not automatically prove dependent sites have been repaired.

Follow these steps

Select the saved design, choose Clone, change its name and Save as a new configuration. Verify its new Chat ID before applying it elsewhere. For a broken embed, compare its configuration ID, organization and selected App ID with Embed Code. Delete only a disposable unreferenced design after reviewing the confirmation.

Limitations and checks

Fresh-session reuse, deletion effects and language/theme alternatives remain source-only or unverified. Log failures at the exact site and configuration rather than claiming a generic reconnect fixed them.

Next steps

The saved settings establish the configuration. The independent recipient, visitor or consuming operation establishes whether it worked. Return to the relevant chapter whenever you change a sender, audience, template or connected site, and repeat the result check for that change.

Limitations and checks

Primary UI code inspected on 2 October 2026. This pass performed no live external send, DNS change, agreement acceptance, provider setup, generated audio or rendered video. Statements about expected results are recording requirements, not claims of completed tests.

Concept map of the two configured support paths, not a captured execution. Website appearance, assistant selection and staff connection are separate checks. Takeover deliberately changes the handler; an AI answer appearing does not mean a human has picked the conversation.

Start with the human exchange so you can verify the visitor reaches your team. Then configure and test AI, keeping the same recipient-side reply check. Use the later broadcast and Live View chapters for their separate media and presence controls.

Start by setting up the website widget and answering a consultation question. The retained screenshots show that human exchange on the cedsite practice website. Then use the Arc lamp question as a separate practice exercise for attachments, colleague transfer and product knowledge. The later Product Help screenshots demonstrate an independent AI-to-human exchange. These examples teach the same controls; they are not one uninterrupted recorded conversation. Live View and broadcast exercises still need their own receiver-side verification.

Prepare the website and a separate visitor browser before opening the agent queue. You need an Appmint staff account in the correct organisation, a site you can configure, and a second participant or isolated browser session that is not signed in as the agent. For transfer, have another authorised staff member available. For media, use a browser with permission to capture the intended screen, camera and audio. A local preview of your own message or camera is not the customer's experience.

In the selected site's settings, open Chat. The two linked fields are Chat configuration and Chat app credential. If no widget exists, click Set up chat; for an existing setup the button reads Reconfigure chat. The wizard has Widget, AI replies, App user and Finish steps.

On Widget, choose Use an existing widget when you are maintaining a known configuration. Otherwise choose Create a new one and enter Name cedar-help-chat. For the first human-support exercise, a new configuration keeps our starting behavior clear. The wizard's defaults enable attachments and emoji, make the widget available at all times and set it online. You can refine its design and availability later in CRM → Chat Designer.

On AI replies, choose Agents only for the first exchange. We will add AI after we establish that the visitor reaches the desk. Choose Yes, use AI when preparing the AI exercise; it offers an existing assistant or an Assistant name for a new one. Selecting an existing assistant is useful when you already maintain approved product knowledge there. A newly created assistant needs that knowledge configured before it can answer product-specific questions reliably.

On App user, choose an existing identity intended for this widget or Create a new one and enter App ID cedar-help-widget. This is an app user's username. It is not an API key, a staff email or the widget configuration's record identifier. Review the summary on Finish before saving: nothing has been created by simply moving through the previous pages.

Live Chat setup summary showing Widget, AI replies, App user and Finish

Historical setup review before Finish: this example uses cedsite-chat and Agents only. The older Site Features surface labels the entry Live Chat → Set up; the current procedure above uses the selected site’s Chat section. The summary states nothing has been created yet. Check your own chosen widget, identity and site before saving; the screenshot does not establish an AI reply.

Click Finish and inspect Live chat is on. The wizard links the widget configuration and app identity to the site and enables live chat. If a new app secret is shown once, retain it using your organisation's approved credential handling; do not put it in a tutorial recording or substitute it into the public widget's appId field. Return to the site's Chat section and confirm both selected fields identify the intended records.

For a site outside Appmint, use the generated Embed code, or CRM → Chat Designer → Embed Code for the saved widget. Select the correct app credential when generating the code. Preserve the stylesheet link, the container, the loader script and the AppmintChat.init options. The values have different jobs: orgId chooses the organisation, configId identifies the chat configuration, and appId is the app-user username. Copy the generated snippet into the intended page before </body> as directed. The required stylesheet keeps a successfully loaded widget from appearing unstyled.

Open the real visitor page independently. Expand the widget and complete the displayed visitor/start flow if one appears. Verify that its wording and appearance belong to Cedar & Form and that it opens on the intended site. If the widget is absent, check the enabled site feature, both linked identifiers and loaded assets before changing agent availability. If it appears without styling, check that the stylesheet was included. If an old AI configuration still answers during the Agents only exercise, inspect the widget's saved AI association; selecting Agents only while reusing an existing configuration must be checked, not assumed to have cleared its previous assistant.

A website visitor opens the configured chat widget

Historical visitor-side widget on the cedsite practice website. This proves the widget appeared, not that an agent answered. The 24/7 sentence is configured display copy; edit it to match your support hours rather than treating it as a staffing guarantee.

Agent Connection, Queue and Visitor Replies

The website is ready; now a person needs to receive its conversation. In Appmint's top header, open Chat and choose Connect chat if it is offline. Wait for Online, then use Open chat or CRM → Chat. Open conversations in the same header menu leads to the email, SMS and social inbox; use Open chat for this website-support exercise.

The full Chat application has Agent Desk, Activity and Logs, plus a Broadcast control. In a compact window some labels become icons; enlarge the window or inspect their tooltips. A Chat surface embedded in Workspace can use a reduced mode without the queue, AI, customers or broadcast. Open the full CRM module when a control from this course is missing.

On Agent Desk, select Available to receive new work. Busy describes an agent handling conversations without new assignments; Away indicates absence from the desk. Those availability states differ from Go offline, which disconnects chat. Setting Available cannot compensate for an Offline connection.

In the independent visitor widget, enter: “Hi, what room measurements and photos should I bring to my consultation?” Send it in the Agents only configuration. Back in Agent Desk, select Queue. Look for the visitor identity, waiting time and any priority, skill or reason displayed with the entry. Use Journey when the recorded customer context will help you understand the request. An anonymous entry may not have a usable email-based journey yet; do not treat the missing identity as a known customer.

Agent Desk Queue has one waiting customer and a Pick button

Historical request awaiting pickup. Compare the visitor identity, then use Pick on that row; Pick next selects the next request. The empty main panel is expected before choosing a conversation.

Click Pick on the intended entry for this worked example. Pick next is useful when handling the next queued item without selecting a specific person. Confirm that the picked visitor opens in your active conversation and that the queue entry is removed. This assignment check prevents two staff members from assuming they own the same request. If the queue changes between inspection and pickup, read the returned result and refresh before trying again.

In Type a reply..., enter: “Please bring the room length and width, two photos taken from opposite corners, and your main priority for the room.” Click Send or press Enter. The conversation identifies Agent, Customer and AI messages, with timestamps where available. Check the visitor browser and confirm the exact reply arrives. Ask the visitor to answer “Thank you, I will bring those to the consultation.” The returning message establishes that we have a two-way exchange, rather than an agent writing into an isolated local thread.

Selected customer conversation with the agent response and an empty queue

Historical staff view after pickup and reply. The customer is named at the top and the question remains in the conversation. The agent bubble alone is not delivery confirmation.

Visitor widget displays the same staff response about consultation preparation

Historical visitor-side confirmation of that same reply. Compare the exact room-length, width and photo text with the staff screenshot. This is the recipient check; the conversation is a human-agent example, not AI takeover proof.

The current customer conversation pane inserts an outgoing message immediately. That optimistic bubble is useful feedback while sending, but it is not independent confirmation of delivery. Keep the visitor check as part of the operation. If a reply remains visible to the agent but never reaches the visitor, verify the connection and the conversation assignment before typing the same text repeatedly.

Use the context panel to inspect the customer's current page, device and location when supplied. Open tabs can indicate multiple connections from the same visitor. These details help you respond to the page the visitor is actually using; they do not establish that the visitor is currently reading a particular message. Ask a short contextual question when the recorded page and the customer's request disagree.

For independent practice, have the visitor ask a second product question. Pick the correct conversation, answer it, and confirm the answer at the visitor. Then switch your status to Busy and explain the difference between remaining connected for the current conversation and advertising availability for new assignments. Return to the desired operating state when the exercise is complete.

Chat Attachments, Transfers and Message History

For the next practice exercise, ask the visitor to introduce a new question: “Can you confirm the dimensions of this Arc lamp?” Keep the active conversation open, or choose Start New Chat and pick its new Queue entry if the previous session ended. This attachment/transfer exercise was not captured in the consultation screenshots. In the website widget, click the paperclip, choose a small approved image or PDF, and inspect its preview. The current visitor picker accepts images, PDF, Word's application/msword format and plain text. Choose a file that this picker actually offers; an inline video renderer elsewhere in the product does not extend the visitor upload picker to video.

Add “This is the lamp I am asking about” and send. The widget uploads the selected file before sending its chat message. An upload failure must be resolved before a file message can be delivered. A thumbnail in the unsent preview is only a local selection. In Agent Desk, inspect the received attachment, open the image or download link, and confirm that it is the correct file. Reopen the conversation later to check whether the file remains available with its history.

The active customer conversation pane currently has a text reply input and Send, and it renders received files. It does not expose the general chat composer's Attach file button. When replying from that pane, provide an approved file or product-page link in the text if that meets the visitor's need. Do not tell the learner to click a paperclip that is absent from this surface.

For staff-to-staff or other conversations opened in the general Chats surface, the shared composer does provide Attach file. Select that control, choose the intended file in File Manager, inspect the attached item and send it to a controlled recipient. Confirm the receiver opens the same file. Keep the recipient and surface visible so this optional demonstration does not imply that the customer Agent Desk input has identical controls.

General chat message bubbles can display status icons: a light single check for pending, a single gray check for sent, gray double checks for delivered and blue double checks for read. Teach only the states actually observed in the chosen conversation. The active customer pane does not display this same set of icons, and the visitor client can mark an outgoing message delivered after a server acknowledgement. Such a state is not proof that a human read and understood the message. Use the independent receiver and its response for the outcome check.

A colleague now needs to handle the dimensions question. In the active customer conversation, choose Transfer. The Transfer chat drawer shows the current customer, a search box for agents, agent availability and active-chat counts. Search by the colleague's name or email, select the intended agent and add Transfer note (optional): “Visitor is on the Arc lamp page; image received; please confirm the dimensions from the product record.” Click Transfer chat.

Have the receiving agent inspect the transferred conversation, note and message history. Ask the visitor to send a short follow-up and confirm it reaches the new agent. A closed transfer drawer alone does not establish that the receiver took over. If No other agents are online appears, have the intended colleague connect to the same organisation and become available; do not select an unrelated account to finish the demonstration.

When assistance is complete, use End chat in the active conversation. Check the visitor's ended state. The widget offers Start New Chat when the conversation has ended; selecting it starts a new session rather than reviving an old assignment invisibly. Revisit Logs, which opens Chat Messages, and use the data table's search, sort and paging to locate the example by its identity, text and time. Inspect retained messages and files instead of relying on the closed chat's disappearance from the active list.

Visitor sees This chat has ended and Start New Chat

Historical visitor state after the completed exchange. Start New Chat begins another session; it does not demonstrate transfer to another employee.

Chat Logs retains the question, agent reply and customer confirmation

Historical reloaded message log. Match the room-consultation text and visitor identity. The same table also contains unrelated AI Assistant rows: those are not part of this website-support exchange. This screenshot does not prove attachment or transfer delivery.

A reopened thread presents recent history, with a backend retrieval limit of the latest 100 messages. For an older exchange, use the message log's paging and filters where available instead of assuming the active conversation contains the organisation's entire archive. The useful handoff is a colleague who has the original question and attachment, can reply in the same visitor exchange, and can find the retained record after the active session ends.

AI Chat Configuration, Assistance and Takeover

Use AI for a product question only after its configuration and knowledge match the website. Open the site's Chat → Reconfigure chat and select Yes, use AI. Choose the intended existing assistant or create a named assistant for the site, then finish and confirm the widget's association. In AI Assistant, edit that assistant's instructions, allowed Tools and knowledge sources. The wizard's starter assistant includes a chat channel, a message-received trigger and the transfer-to-agent tool; it is a starting configuration, not a populated product catalogue.

For Cedar & Form, set the purpose to answering product questions from approved information and handing unresolved requests to staff. Provide a knowledge source that actually contains the Arc product details. Add the rule, “If the dimensions are missing, say they need checking; do not infer them from an image.” Keep allowed tools appropriate to this task. Instructions about what the assistant may do are separate from the actual actions made available by Tools.

Open a new controlled visitor conversation with this widget and ask a question that the knowledge can answer. In Agent Desk → AI, use search to locate the visitor or distinctive message text. Open the conversation and read the customer input, the AI response and any reported error. Check the visitor widget as the answer arrives. Compare the factual answer with the configured source. An animated typing indicator or a streamed sentence does not establish that the answer is correct.

While the AI is still the assigned handler, choose Assist AI. Enter a concise instruction such as “The visitor is comparing the Arc lamp with the larger model. Answer only from the linked product information and ask which model they mean if needed.” Click Send to AI, or press Enter; Escape or Cancel closes the input without sending. The intended behavior is to give the assistant additional guidance and have it continue with a customer-facing answer. This is not a private draft generator waiting for you to click a second customer-send button. Review the outgoing answer at the visitor and check that internal instructions are not exposed during the live exchange or on reload before using sensitive internal context.

Now click Takeover. The control takes over from AI or another agent. Inspect the success notice and system message identifying the new handler, then send a human reply. Ask a new visitor question and verify the human remains responsible. This is more explicit than simply typing while AI may still be answering: takeover changes routing and attempts to stop an active AI response.

Read the AI-to-human handoff in a recorded example

The following retained example uses a separate Product Help website and Product Support assistant answering Appmint questions. It is not the room-consultation conversation above or the proposed Arc product-knowledge exercise. Compare the routing and messages, then use your own approved information when configuring your assistant.

Saved Product Support assistant is active for Chat while phone calls are off

Historical saved assistant card. Product Support is active for Chat and has no action tools enabled. The other two cards are inactive. A saved active card is configuration evidence, not proof of a customer reply or phone call.

AI chat history followed by human takeover system message and an agent reply

Historical Agent Desk: find the AI answer, then the system message stating Product Guide took over, followed by the human reply. Takeover and Assist AI remain different controls. The header connection indicators disagree in this capture; use the recipient-side check below rather than treating a green control or this staff bubble as delivery proof.

Visitor sees the takeover message and receives a human reply to a follow-up question

Historical visitor-side result: the same AI answer is retained, the takeover is announced, and the follow-up “Can a person reject an action?” has a human response. Compare these messages with the staff-side history. The widget header still displays product-support; do not infer the current handler solely from its title. This retained sequence supports the handoff example, not the unverified Assist AI, archive or broadcasting alternatives.

For your own exercise, give Assist AI guidance before using Takeover. The retained Product Help example above demonstrates takeover and a visitor follow-up, not the Assist AI guidance step. Takeover clears the customer's active assistant routing. After takeover, Assist AI may report No AI assistant configured if it cannot resolve the assistant. The reviewed UI does not expose a general Resume AI control even though a backend operation exists. Do not promise that clicking Assist AI automatically restores all future AI routing. Use a separately configured new conversation for a fresh AI test, or an actual exposed resume route only after it has been verified in your installation.

The AI list includes Active, All and Archived, plus Archive and Unarchive actions. Use these to organise the list, and test the result after a refresh. Archiving a list item is different from ending the visitor session or disabling its assistant. Persistence of the AI list's archived state needs particular attention: a change visible immediately in this panel should not be treated as permanently stored until it survives reopening. Use Logs for retained messages when the list does not restore the expected state.

If AI does not answer, check the widget's selected configuration, its saved assistant association, assistant status, the chat channel and the presence of the incoming message. If the visitor is already assigned to a human, that routing is relevant. If an answer is wrong, compare source content and permissions before changing delivery settings. Your practice task is to ask one supported question and one deliberately unsupported question. The checks are a correct answer to the first, an honest limitation or supported handoff for the second, and no competing AI answer after a verified human takeover.

Live View and Targeted Visitor Invitations

The next visitor is browsing the lamp page but has not asked for help. Open Chat → Activity → Visitors. This uses the same Live View visitor table available through the analytics Live View surface. The adjacent Activity views are Map, Queue and Live Chats. Live Chats here describes your active chats; do not assume it is a complete transcript view for every colleague.

Choose the relevant Live View window: 5 min, 15 min, 30 min or 1 hr. The default is 15 minutes, and the data refreshes periodically. Use Refresh when you need a fresh check. Visitors in the selected recent window and visitors marked active are different counts. A row from earlier in the window does not guarantee that a browser is still connected to receive an invitation. A failed request appears as a load failure rather than a genuine zero-visitor result.

Search by name, page, location or browser and locate the controlled participant. Inspect the current page, entry page, browser/device, time on site and available identity. Map offers geographic context, while the table is better for selecting a specific browser. Treat location as context supplied by the visitor data rather than an exact personal address.

Open View journey on the visitor row. The drawer contains the current and entry pages and the recorded activity. It is keyed by the visitor's device identifier. This differs from the email-based Journey in the agent queue or Customers panel. A person can have more than one device, and an anonymous browsing device need not yet be a registered chat customer.

The same visitor drawer has Engage. Its Target tells you whom you are addressing. Enter “Hi! I can help you find the Arc lamp dimensions if you need them.” Keep the message within the 500-character limit and click Send for the intended controlled participant. The current form sends a chat invitation, even where an older tooltip mentions a notice. This targeted route uses the application API, so the invitation request is not dependent on the agent's live-chat socket being connected; handling the resulting chat still requires an online agent or configured assistant.

In the independent visitor browser, look for the invitation and choose Reply. Reply opens the widget or the visitor's start/registration flow as appropriate. Send a response, then follow it into the queue or assigned conversation. That response is the useful outcome: the invitation reached the intended browser and the visitor could act on it.

If the invitation is missing, check the target device and whether the visitor still has the relevant site open. Inspect the inline send error if one appears. An API success notice is not evidence that someone saw the invitation, so do not send repeated prompts merely because the operator cannot see the receiver. Refresh the visitor context and compare with the participant's real browser.

For a known, connected customer, Agent Desk → Customers offers a more direct path. Filter Online customers by name, URL or location, inspect the row, and use its Chat action. Journey supplies the known customer's context. This direct customer-chat route uses the live chat connection; it serves a different situation from inviting an anonymous browsing device.

For practice, keep two controlled visitor browsers open on different pages. Select the lamp-page device, send one targeted invitation, and verify which browser receives it. Do not declare organisation-wide delivery from this exercise: the selected device is the scope of the targeted route.

Website Screen and Camera Broadcasts

A live visual demonstration can answer a question that is awkward to describe in text. Open Chat → Broadcast in the full application. The panel says Share your screen or camera with all website visitors. Its scope is organisation-wide connected widget visitors, so the currently selected customer conversation is not a private audience selector. Use the intended test organisation and participant set for this exercise.

Choose Share Screen. The browser asks which tab, window or display to share. Select the prepared product demonstration, not an unrelated desktop. If audio sharing is offered for that source and you need it, select it deliberately. The application requests screen video and audio, but the tracks actually supplied depend on the browser and chosen source. A request for audio does not ensure that microphone or system sound is included.

In Appmint, inspect the local preview and LIVE indicator. At the independent visitor page, inspect the received broadcast overlay. Make a visible change in the shared source: switch from the product overview to the dimensions area or move a clearly identifiable object on screen. Confirm the receiver sees that movement. If audio is part of the demonstration, play or speak the chosen short test phrase through the captured source and have the receiver confirm it. A frozen preview, a viewer count or a LIVE badge alone does not prove useful media delivery.

The visitor overlay offers controls such as Mute/Unmute, Minimize and Maximize/Restore, subject to its configuration. If the video is minimised, use LIVE - Click to view to expand it. Check the receiver's mute state before diagnosing a silent stream. The operator preview is intentionally muted, so silence in that preview is not a receiver-audio test.

Use Mute in the broadcaster controls to disable the stream's available audio tracks and verify the receiver becomes silent while the picture continues. Use Unmute and verify audio returns. If there were no audio tracks to begin with, this control cannot create them. Use Stop Broadcasting, then check that the independent visitor no longer receives the live stream. Closing or moving the floating Broadcast window is not the explicit stop procedure taught here.

Start a second demonstration with Share Camera. Permit the intended camera and microphone in the browser prompt. Show a recognisable movement in front of the camera and say a short test phrase. Confirm both at the receiver. Stop the broadcast and verify release of the stream. This is one-way live media from the operator to website visitors; it is not a two-way private meeting call.

If Share Screen or Share Camera is disabled, check the chat connection. If permission is denied or no preview appears, check the browser's camera/microphone/screen permissions and start again with the intended source. If the local preview works but the independent receiver has no moving picture, keep investigating the connection path. A different-network receiver is especially valuable because successful same-network playback does not establish relay connectivity elsewhere. Administrators may need to check the installation's WebRTC relay configuration; do not promise that every network can connect from the presence of a local camera preview.

The meaningful finish is two separate captures: an operator choosing and controlling the source, and a visitor receiving its changing picture and, where configured, sound. Preserve the same identifiable content between them so the recipient check is about this broadcast rather than a prerecorded clip.

Visitor Text Broadcast, Video File and Meeting Support

Several controls use words such as chat or broadcast, but they solve different tasks. The targeted Engage action sends a text invitation to one browsing device. Chat's Broadcast panel sends screen or camera media to connected website visitors. A video attachment is a stored file that a recipient opens. A meeting call establishes a different, interactive meeting session.

For organisation-wide visitor text, the current application contains a backend broadcast event and a form mode for an organisation-wide chat invitation. However, the reviewed Live View and Customer Activity screens render the targeted visitor form, and the Chat Broadcast panel renders screen/camera controls. There is no verified visible “send text to all website visitors” route in these screens to follow. Do not confuse CRM → Broadcast, which is a separate communications module, with this live-visitor invitation function.

When your installation does expose an organisation-wide visitor-text control, first inspect its audience description, connect chat, enter a controlled invitation and verify it in two independent visitor browsers in that organisation. Inspect Reply opening the widget on each. Until that actual route is available and verified, use the supported targeted Engage operation for individual visitors. The course cannot provide a reproducible click sequence for a control that is not exposed.

For a stored video, open a controlled general-chat conversation that has Attach file, use File Manager to select an approved small video asset, inspect the queued attachment and send it. In the receiving general-chat view, use the video's player controls and verify playback. The shared attachment renderer can display images, videos and download links. That rendering support is separate from the website visitor upload picker, which currently does not offer video among its accepted types, and from the text-only customer Agent Desk reply composer. Keep those boundaries visible when deciding which recipient route to use.

For a meeting call, use a supported general/team-chat conversation with the Start Call control in its header. This initiates the meeting integration. Verify the invited staff recipient sees and joins the same meeting, then check picture/audio according to the meeting's actual controls and finish with End Call. If the integration reports Call failed, inspect the meeting setup and recipient route; the presence of a camera icon elsewhere does not establish a working meeting.

The customer Agent Desk header exposes Takeover, Assist AI, Transfer and End chat, rather than a visitor Start Call button. Do not tell a website visitor to join a fictional direct-call control. Use the actual screen/camera broadcast when the task is demonstrating something to visitors, and a supported meeting route when the task genuinely requires a two-way meeting. Before presenting a visitor as a supported meeting recipient, demonstrate the exact recipient flow in the installed product.

A useful independent check is to name the intended recipient and result before opening a control. “This device should receive a text invitation” leads to Engage. “The connected website audience should see this live camera” leads to Chat Broadcast. “This colleague should open a recorded video later” leads to an attachment in the supported chat surface. “These staff members should join the same interactive meeting” leads to Start Call. Each choice has a different completion check, even when the same person appears in more than one of those roles.

Chat Session, Message and Media Recovery

When a visitor cannot get help, locate the broken stage before changing the entire setup. Start at the visitor's actual page. An absent widget points to the site feature, configuration/app identity or assets. A visible widget with no incoming conversation points to visitor session or routing. A queue entry that nobody picks points to staff connection or availability. A reply visible only in the operator window requires delivery investigation. A working text conversation with failed media calls for a media-specific check.

For an offline agent, use the top-header Chat → Connect chat and wait for Online. If you previously selected Go offline, that preference can survive a page refresh; reloading the application is not the same as explicitly reconnecting. If the desk says it could not connect, inspect the notice and reconnect. An expired staff session may refresh automatically; if reauthentication fails, sign in again through the normal flow and reopen the desk. An unavailable-account message needs the organisation administrator to restore appropriate access.

After reconnecting, refresh the queue and open the intended conversation again. The desk reloads history when it rejoins a chat. Confirm the current visitor and latest message before replying, especially if the customer started a new session while you were offline. Do not use an old tab's title as proof that you are answering the current request.

For a failed message, compare the visitor and agent histories before resending. The current agent customer pane displays its draft optimistically and logs a failed send acknowledgement without a robust persistent failed-message treatment. A local bubble may therefore survive a delivery failure. Retain the exact text elsewhere when needed, restore the connection and send once in the verified active thread. Have the visitor confirm receipt; avoid using repeated retries as a substitute for checking whether the first attempt arrived.

For a visitor whose session has ended, use the displayed Start New Chat control. Let the new session establish and submit a fresh question. If identity or configuration has changed, inspect the new conversation rather than assuming it belongs to the old queue item. A visitor's browser and the staff session can expire independently, so repair the side that reports the failure.

For files, distinguish choosing a local file from uploading it and from the recipient opening its link. If upload fails, resolve the returned issue before sending. If a received link fails later, inspect access to that stored file. If a paperclip is missing, check the widget's attachment setting and the particular composer surface; not every Chat pane exposes the same controls.

For AI, separate missing input, missing assistant association, human routing and answer quality. A Takeover success with a continuing unwanted AI stream needs inspection of the actual thread and receiver; do not present the success notice alone as a guarantee that every outstanding response stopped. An Assist AI failure after takeover can mean the active assistant association is no longer available. Keep the person in control while repairing the routing.

For media, stop the current broadcast, correct the intended browser source or permission, restart, and retest at the independent receiver. If only audio is missing, check whether an audio track exists, then broadcaster and receiver mute states. If the picture is static, make a recognisable live change before deciding that the connection works. Finish by stopping the demonstration stream explicitly.

Close the exercise with a service check, not a list of opened menus. The website visitor reached the correct organisation. A named agent or configured assistant answered the actual question. The visitor received the reply and, where used, the file. A receiving colleague retained the context after transfer. Live View selected the intended browsing device. The broadcast showed moving picture and the intended audio at an independent visitor. Logs retained the relevant exchange. Where the current product does not expose a requested route, preserve that limit and use the supported alternative instead of claiming a completed interaction.
